The place was well protected... It meant that no zombies could enter that and if they did... they would be blown to smithereens.
The survivors were enjoying the safety in the huge city that Jacko and Audry made for them. They had everything they needed in this place. Except getting their zombified families or friends cured. They still didn’t find a cure; only a vaccine to avoid becoming into a zombie but it didn’t prevent the zombies from eating one.
Usually once in a week they send out a patrol to find the other survivors so they could save them and bring them to safety. It wasn’t always that they managed to save them but it didn’t stop them from patrolling.
It was pretty dangerous to patrol the world outside the Place because there weren’t only regular zombies but also these so-called super zombies. These were zombies who had superpowers before they became zombies and kept their powers. So the soldiers would have need for a robot bodyguard everything they went out for a patrol or using robo-suits which were like advanced armor that could protect one from getting bitten, shot and could also be used under water and could increase the strength 100 times at the user. So the soldiers could handle the most and most important… not being bitten. It would be bad because it would turn them into zombies. If there were one who got bitten. They would be checked if they got infected in spite of the vaccine. They were normally taken to a containment cell and stayed there for 72 hours. If they did become zombies, then they were used for experiments to find a cure. And the rumors said there only was one who got cured… But no one knew who it was.

The Place now had about 2000 people living in it and they tried to live a normal life without having nightmares about the zombies.
If it wasn’t for the zombies it would look like a normal city with its own police, hospital, fire patrol, and so on.
It had been like this for about 3 years now since The Place was built. Three years people had been living in safety… But now they had a problem to keep the zombies at bay. Because it seemed to that the zombies did eat EVERY single living being in the world and the place was the last place in the world with living people in it, so far as they knew.
There were so many zombies outside the walls that no one could see the end of the terrible zombie horde. Even the automatically defending systems were starting to have problems to keep shooting them because of overheating. But at least the walls couldn’t be broken down.

The mayor was now discussing how to get rid of the swarm with her team. Corpse girl was one of her many names. But she did prefer that name than “dead girl”, “wormwood” or “brain eater”. So it was obvious that she wasn’t so popular in the start when she arrived in the Place.
She did have to prove that she was on the survivors’ side, and not Zombies’ a lot of times and she almost gave up until people suddenly thanked her for saving their lives outside the Place. So she won people’s respect and trust and she felt happy when they accepted her as their own. After all, zombies didn’t want to eat her… And it gave her a chance to trick them so she could save them.
They now knew she will never turn them to the zombies because she lost so many of her beloved friends to the zombies.
She became the mayor because she just knew exactly how the zombies thought and how they reacted. And also that she wanted to make Place into a nice city to live in.
Now she sighed when the council members yelled at each others except one, Chess. He just watched and waited for the members to relax again. He was a patient man and Corpse girl never had seen him lose his temper. She wondered sometimes if he had ice in his veins. He almost looked like he was about to fall asleep. She knew that he really was worried about his daughter Rita, but he didn’t want to show it... in public at least.
Chess was a highly respected member of the Place’s population because of his huge experience in a battlefield… Even it was a bit special because he was from an alterative future where the demons ruled and he was sent to present to save mankind from the demons. But now he had to save them from the undead.
Then she felt she did have enough of this yelling she lifted her chin as a signal. Chess reacted by tapping his fingers on the table, and the members went silent when they heard that.
“Now ladies and gentlemen, could we please go on and listen to our mayor? Instead of wasting my time...” When the puma was about to protest Chess only looked him in his eyes. “Do I need to say it again? Miles?”
Miles shook his head and looked at C.G. all members did both respect and fear Chess.
“Thank you… Now C.G do you have something to say?”
She nodded and stood up while looking at the members before she spoke to them.
“I know we have a problem with the zombies outside the walls… that they keep coming here and trying to break in. But as we all know the walls were created by Jacko’s magic and therefore can’t be broken no matter what. He did say that, right Chess?”
Chess grunted in agreement and made a sign to tell her to go on.
“As you see, there are no problems with the walls. And the robots are doing their job very well even if they are being pressed because of the numbers of zombies keeping coming here and overheating. I did put some men on the problem with overheating.”
She looked at the members again while thinking what to say next. Then a female cat raised her hand and she was nervous which was easy to tell because she used to touch her pencil when being nervous. That was Missy for everyone.
“But Mayor… The problem is that they all are coming here… Doesn’t it mean we are the last one in the world to be alive?” She asked carefully and touched her pencil again.
C.G shook her head. “No. I don’t think so. But I think the places where the survivors live at are getting fewer and harder to find, so logical Zombies are looking for the places they know where there is food for sure.”
Then C.G stood up with some trouble because of her still bigger belly. The members didn’t know who the father was... except Chess and C.G herself.
“Anyway, you shouldn’t worry. I did ask Chess to come up with a plan for the case IF zombies manage to get in. but so far it is still on the drawing table. Correct Chess?”
“Yes. We have now several back up plans. And the simulator is testing the plans and we will have the results tomorrow.”
He looked at the members to see if someone had questions but he could see they didn’t want to ask him because they knew he rarely explained a plan before he was sure it would work.
C.G smiled and nodded. “Well. I think it is all for now and I would like to end the meeting unless you do have anything to say?”
When no one said anything, C.G ended the meeting.
Short after everyone left she sat down on her chair and stroked her belly. She sighed softly and she felt a joy that she should be a mother in spite of everyone told her that she couldn’t get kids because she was part zombie and she was too young. She smiled when she prove them wrong in both.
She was in fact older than everyone thought, even if she looked like a teenager. There was a rumor that she didn’t know her real age.
She purred happily and was about to stand up when she saw Chess sitting at the other end of the table. She didn’t notice him there because he did have a skill to blend in the surrounding and kept himself silent.
“Chess? What are you doing here? I thought you would…”
“Go to Rita you mean? Yes I will, but I want to talk you about the baby’s father.”
She sighed and sat down again.
“What did he do now?”
“Nothing serious but he did break a guy’s arm so he is now in the cells. C.G… I just wonder why you did… choose… him?”

Outside The Place. There was a little group of zombies who didn’t join in the attack on the walls. There were six zombies: Crush, G.E.O, Zafire, Hunter and Sporty. They all looked at the useless attack. They didn’t join in because it was only waste of time and besides they were one of the few zombies who did learn to control their hunger and didn’t let it control their actions anymore.
Instead they now tried to search around in the world and saving lives even if it was getting harder and harder.
“Sigh. Isn’t it so typical that they just attack without a plan at all? Bloody morons...” Hunter said while preparing his bow even if it must be hard because he only had one hand to do that. His other hand got ripped off. But somehow he managed to use his bow as if he never lost his hand.
“The hunger makes them do this and they can’t think clearly... like us before.”
Crush sighed while turning his head to see the others. His body was pretty well preserved even though he did have some bullet holes in his chest.
Ruby sat on a stone while watching the whole scene and she was silent and refused to talk with the others right now. Crush thought she was angry and wanted to kill zombies for what they made her to do. She was missing a chuck of her arm.
He now looked at Fresko who missed half of his face. He seemed to sleep, but he was just thinking because Zombies didn’t need sleep. Sporty… what to think of him, Crush thought. He was a warm-hearted man who wanted his friends the best even if they were zombies. Perhaps he was the only one in the group who didn’t eat people at all… or it was Sporty’s way to deal with the things. Crush sighed. He was the leader of this little group of outsiders.
Suddenly he heard Ruby speaking. “Crush? What are we doing here again? There is nothing for us to do here.”
It surprised him because of suddenly she just spoke.
“Err. Well. I was hoping to find a way to talk to the people in The Place without getting shot in head it is. So we can see how we can help… and perhaps get a cure. I am so tired of being a zombie. I miss to eat normal food, sleep and love… I don’t know. Perhaps even to die?”
The others looked surprised at him when he said the last line. “Die?”
Crush nodded silently. “Admit it, some of you do wish to die because to be… like this” He made a gesture at his own body. “This is like to be in hell.”
They didn’t say anything but they knew that Crush was right. They did hate to be zombies and wanted to end it somehow. But they couldn’t give up right now. They did have to go on and fight. They had no other choice but die trying.
Crush turned to the group. “But anyway… any suggestion how we can enable a contact with people in The Place?”
G.E.O raised his hand and everyone looked at him. The hybrid who was a bad guy before he turned into a zombie... it still was a mystery why he refused to eat people but he was a worthy member of “The Outsiders.” So they listened to his suggestion.
In the meeting room C.G sighed when Chess asked her the question. She did thought about why she picked him.. She couldn’t explain that herself. “Oh… he does have good sides… He is friendly, gentle, strong, and caring.”
Chess just looked at her. “… It is hard to see all this in Crafty… seems to those he only shows it to you. I really wish he wouldn’t be… Crafty if you get what I mean”
“Chess… He did lose his family... give him time.” She said with a sad tone in her voice.
Chess nodded. He did understand. “I know... But he is not the only one who did lose his family. Sigh… But anyway I will take him to your flat.”
C.G smiled and stroked his head. “Wonderful I promise I will hold him there.”
He didn’t reply but stood up from the chair. “It is all... I am going to hospital to see to Rita...”
She nodded... in three years Rita didn’t woke up from her long coma.
Chess lost his family when Rebel got infected and tried to eat the girls while he was fighting the zombies. He ended up having to shoot his wife and the zombizied daughters to save Rita. He managed somehow to escape with Rita to the Place.
The day still haunted Chess and he felt so guilty and he did want to bury Rebel and the girls. So he went out on a patrol to his house and found it empty.
He realized that he didn’t kill them because he didn’t hit their heads.
So C.G knew he was afraid to have to meet them again perhaps he won’t be able to finish them off.
She shook her head and closed the meeting room before heading home to her flat and she hoped that Crafty would arrive there soon. She didn’t want to be lonely tonight.

In a big city some zombies were eating a poor man who had been stupid enough to enter a city where there were most zombies. He was quickly surrounded by hungry zombies and got eaten before he could manage to blink.
Max ate his arm while Cetza dug her hands in the poor dead man’s stomach.
Short after the man was nothing but just a pile of bones and Cetza burped. “Ah... it is the first meal in weeks!!” Cetza smiled cruel to her zombized boyfriend Max.
He nodded and looked at the bones. “Yeah, too bad it will be a while before we find another meal.”
“Oh come on.. What about the Place? There’s a lot of food inside it!”
Cetza said and turned her head to him. Max sighed. “Well... A lot of zombies got the same idea and see what is happening to them!!”
He muttered and looked at Cetza. “They just run into their death… or second death that is. Oh no. we need a better plan. We could... trick them to get us inside the Place and we will have a great buffet just for ourselves.” He smiled grimly.
Fresko watched them talking while he was chewing on a leg. “I don’t think we even can trick them. They must have sort of a sensor in there to warn them about us.” He stood up and everyone could see a hole in his stomach. Before he became into a zombie he did fought the zombies to save the people he loved and one of the zombies did use a pole to stab him to hold him still before they could eat him. Even dying he still was able to fight back and turned into a zombie. The scary thing was that since he became into a zombie. He was what people would call... evil. It was perhaps that why the most zombies saw him as a leader.
Max looked at the zombie feline who finished his meal. “How do you plan to break down the walls uh?” Fresko didn’t answer him only staring at the zombie warrior with his dead eyes. It always creeped out Max and the others when he did that.
Cetza sighed. “Anyway… how do we break down the walls Fresko? Are we going to use… bombs?”
Fresko chuckled suddenly and turned to her. “Oh no. We will force Jacko to break them down... now here’s how we do that...” Everyone listened to him and they all smiled when they got to know how to do that.
